Minutes of December 6, 2007

Present: Scalzo, Barrows, Zaborowski, Lemme

Absent: Elpern

The meeting of the Committee on Housing and Community Development of the Danbury Housing Partnership was held in Danbury City Hall, Planning and Zoning Department conference room, 1^st floor on December 6, 2007. Chairperson Paul Scalzo called the meeting to order at 2:15pm.

Guest speaker, Joan Carty, Executive Director for the Housing Development Fund, was not able to attend due to illness. Mr. Scalzo suggested that Ms. Carty be invited to January’s meeting, and Mr. Joseph DaSilva be invited to the February meeting.

A motion to accept the minutes of November 1, 2007 was made by G. Lemme, seconded by C. Barrows, passed unanimously and placed on file.

Staff provided meeting dates for calendar year 2008. Chairman Scalzo provided information on the Jericho Project underway on Rose Street. Staff presented information on Project Homeless Connect event held at the Danbury Elk’s on Wednesday, December 5^th. The event was well attended by those individuals with needs, many Common Council members, Taskforce members, Partnership members, elected officials, many volunteers, and agencies/organizations within the community. This event will be annual, being held in December to target the homeless population or those who could potentially become homeless. More information will be provided at the Housing Partnership meeting held after this subcommittee meeting.

There was no further business to address. A motion to adjourn was made by C. Barrows, seconded by G. Lemme, passed unanimously.

The next scheduled subcommittee meeting will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008.
