Participate in Danbury's community-wide effort to address homelessness, create affordable housing and provide housing for our seniors.  You can help by attending meetings and public events, joining a committee, volunteering your time and expertise, or donating funds or goods to support one of our community partners.

You can support Danbury's efforts to end homelessness by volunteering to assist with the annual Point-In-Time Count to take place on January 27, 2010.  The workgroup is seeking volunteers to assist with the count and to help complete survey forms seeking information on a voluntary basis about people who are homeless.  The count is an important tool used to help make policy decisions on strategies to address homelessness.  The count is also used by Federal and State authorities to determine the community's need for funding for services to assist people who are homeless.  To volunteer or to get more information about the Point-In-Time Count please call Sue Zaborowski at 203-797-4625.

You can also support efforts to end homelessness by volunteering to help plan next year's Danbury's Project Homeless Connect to be conducted in early December, 2010 at the Bill Williams Gymnasium, Western Connecticut State University, Midtown Campus, Osborne and White Street, Danbury.   Project Homeless Connect is a one day, one stop community wide event designed to deliver services to people in our community who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.  Planning for the event is conducted throughout the year by the Danbury Project Homeless Connect Workgroup of the Greater Danbury Continuum of Care.  To volunteer or to get more information about Project Homess Connect please call Sue Zaborowski at 203-797-4625.  Sue may also be reached by fax at 203-796-1596 or email at szaborowski@ci.danbury.ct.us.

A variety of opportunities for volunteer work in the community can be accessed through the Volunteer Center of Greater Danbury.  The Center can be reached by phone at 203-797-1154.

Interested persons are also encouraged to explore volunteer opportunities directly with one of our community partner agencies.  Listings and links to websites of our community partners can be accessed on our Community page as well as our Resources page.
