Walsh Catering To Provide Hot Meals at Project Homeless Connect

Walsh Catering Incorporated will provide hot meals throughout the day at Danbury Project Homeless Connect 2010 to be conducted from 9:00 am to 3 pm on December 10, 2010 at Bill Williams Gymnasium on the downtown campus of Western Connecticut State University.  For the third consecutive year, Chef Patrick Walsh has committed to donate the services of his company to provide full food service at the event that is designed to provide help to persons who are homeless or in need of housing and supportive services.  Chef Walsh will facilitate the provision of all food items needed in cooperation with US Food.

Danbury Project Homeless Connect is organized by the Greater Danbury Continuum of Care in collaboration with WestConn and the Danbury Housing Partnership.  A key strategic element of the regional Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness, the event brings together more than forty area housing agencies and service providers along with community volunteers to provide one-stop delivery of an array of assistance to persons who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.  Danbury is one of many communities throughout the country conducting Project Homeless Connect events as part of a coordinated effort to address homelessness organized by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.

In addition to a hot and healthy meal, services available will include medical screenings, vision checks, haircuts, clothing/personal items, assistance with housing, legal assistance, credit counseling, veterans benefits, drivers licenses, substance abuse help, mental health assistance and a variety of other services.  Community volunteers will be present to provide translation services and assist people to connect with the services they require.
