Chairman Represents Partnership at Supportive Housing Event

Danbury Housing Partnership Chair Mark J. Nolan represented the Partnership at the Fifth Annual Supportive Housing Dinner conducted by the Connecticut Reaching Home Campaign in Cromwell on June 3, 2010.  The purpose of the event is to provide information and raise awareness of the need for affordable and supportive housing to address the issue of homelessness in Connecticut.  The event also recognizes individuals and organizations for their efforts to promote the development of supportive housing in Connecticut.  .  Mr. Nolan also provided sponsorship support for the event through a financial contribution from the Non-Profit Rental Housing Corporation of Danbury.

Reaching Home is the campaign to end long term homelessness in the state through the creation of 10,000 units of supportive housing over ten years.  To date, more than 4,000 supportive housing units have been created in communities across the state.  Supportive housing involves the provision of affordable housing combined with the provision of needed supportive services to enable persons to achieve independent living in the community.

The Reaching Home Campaign is an initiative of the Partnership for Strong Communities.  Mr. Nolan serves on the Strategic Steering Committee that helps guide and implement the effort.  The Partnership for Strong Communities is dedicated to raising awareness and advancing solutions to end chronic homelessness, provide affordable housing and encourage economic development to build healthy communities. The Partnership also provides guidance and support to individual communities throughout the state that have developed plans to address homelessness through the Ten-Year Plan model process
